Event Details

All Iowa-based elementary educators, administrators, and school counselors are invited to join an online 8-part ECHO – Challenging Behaviors in Elementary Classrooms Training program.

ECHO stands for:

  • Explore – an inquiry-based approach to learning
  • Create – an opportunity for learners to come together and share knowledge
  • Harvest – an invitation for participants to reflect on their common experiences, and
  • Own – encourage participants to transfer new knowledge into their unique contexts/classrooms

During each ECHO, elementary educators/specialists will present real cases to a panel of interdisciplinary specialists and other ECHO participants for discussion and recommendations.

In addition, brief didactics are part of this model, to enhance knowledge and understanding of critical content and research related to challenging behaviors in elementary school settings.

ECHO models have been found to provide high-impact mentoring and peer support creating long-lasting learning opportunities, extending beyond the ECHO sessions.

Each ECHO will be 90 minutes long and will be held online on Wednesday evenings from 4:00-5:30 p.m. Participants will need to attend all 8 virtual sessions to receive 1 free educator licensure renewal credit.

The dates of the ECHO sessions are as follows:

  • Wednesday, January 17 from 4 – 5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, February 7 from 4 – 5:30 p.m.
