  • Who Should Apply: PreK-12 district adminstrators

  • Funding Description:

We are now accepting applications from Iowa public school districts for our Mental Health Training Fellowship for Paraeducators.

Each fellowship will provide $15,000 per paraeducator to districts to support the development and advancement of paraeducators. Each district can apply for up to 5 fellowships.

    Program Delivery
    – Selected paraeducators will complete 3 in-person Imagine Iowa training blocks followed by enrollment in a digital platform for additional content/activities/coaching to meet licensure credit requirements (15 hours total = 1 licensure credit).

    – The in-person training will take place in Des Moines on October 27, November 3, and December 1, 2023. The trainings will be hosted at the Des Moines Downtown Marriott.

    Funding Distribution
    – The estimated total program funding equals $1.5 million.

    – Districts will receive $7,000 at the program’s start (November 1, 2023). These funds must be used to support all expenses associated with paraeducators attending the 3 in-person trainings in Des Moines, IA.

    – The remaining $8,000 will be dispersed as paraeducators successfully complete each of the 4 parts of the program. Each of these $2,000 payments will be distributed to the school district, and the district will, in turn, be responsible for transferring the entire $2,000 to the paraeducator who completed that part of the program.
