PreK-12 school administrators
  • Who Should Apply: PreK-12 district administrators

  • Funding Description:

We are now accepting applications from Iowa school districts for our Mental Health Training Fellowship for Paraeducators – Spring 2024. (Read more about the Fall 2023 cohort.)

Each fellowship will provide $10,000 per paraeducator to districts to support the development and advancement of paraeducators. Each district can apply for up to 3 fellowships.

    Program Delivery

    • Selected paraeducators will complete 3 in-person Imagine Iowa training blocks followed by enrollment in a digital platform for additional content/activities/coaching to meet licensure credit requirements (15 hours total = 1 licensure credit).
    • The in-person training will take place in Iowa City, Iowa on May 3, May 10, and May 17, 2024 at the Courtyard by Marriott University Heights & The Heights Rooftop.

    Funding Distribution

    • Districts will receive $2,000 at the program’s start. These funds must be used to support all expenses associated with paraeducators attending the 3 in-person trainings in Iowa City, Iowa.
    • The remaining $8,000 will be dispersed as paraeducators successfully complete each of the 4 parts of the program. Each of these $2,000 payments will be distributed to the school district, and the district will, in turn, be responsible for transferring the entire $2,000 to the paraeducator who completed that part of the program.

    Application Info

    • A district administrator must complete the initial application, providing the name(s) and contact information of the paraeducators who will complete the program.
    • In the application, district administration will describe their need for this award and outline how the funds will impact their unique learning community. See a copy of the application questions.
    • The first 45 applicants will be accepted when received before March 31, 2024 deadline. Apply early!
