Claim your free code now! In just 90 minutes online, LivingWorks Start will train you to recognize when someone may be thinking about suicide and how to connect them to help and support.

Start is an evidence-based, entry program into suicide alertness, so that everyone can play a role in preventing suicide.

Leave this training with:

  • Skills and comfort level talking about suicide
  • Knowledge to refer someone talking about suicide to resources
  • Confidence to use a powerful four-step model to help keep someone safer from suicide

The Scanlan Center for School Mental Health will provide a free access code to the first 100 Iowans to register. After you receive a code, you will have 60 days to complete the training. Training can be completed at your own pace. 

Whether you are a parent/caregiver, a community member, an educator, a coach, a supervisor, or someone interested in saving lives, this training is for you. The skills learned in this training are relevant to any relationship or age level, youth through adult. 

LivingWorks Start is appropriate and safe for anyone aged 15 years and older (13+ with parent/carer supervision) and requires no formal training or prior experience in suicide prevention.

LivingWorks Start is currently available worldwide in English, French, and Spanish.
