Suicide prevention program at UI offers realistic scenarios for faculty, staff, and students
Kognito, a suicide prevention training program used by the University of Iowa, has recently updated its training modules for faculty, staff, and students. The program, which has been widely used at the university since 2019, has serviced almost 20,000 students, staff, and faculty in the past three years.

UI Scanlan Center for School Mental Health opens for patient referrals
The Scanlan Center for School Mental Health started receiving patient referrals on Sept. 6, opening its resources to teachers and students all over the state. The center’s mission is to provide short-term and crisis counseling to all those in need.

Scanlan Family Foundation gives $15 million to name school mental health center, expand services to schools and veterans
Thanks to a generous $15 million gift from the Scanlan Family Foundation, the Iowa Center for School Mental Health will be renamed the Scanlan Center for School Mental Health. The gift will expand clinical support for school mental health not only across the state but across the nation.
