Biography

Ryan Kidder is a social worker for the Scanlan Center for School Mental Health Clinic, facilitating individual and group counseling. He specializes in working with clients experiencing intense emotions, including those who engage in self-harm behaviors and suicidality. He has experience in supporting clients with anxiety, depression, challenging behaviors, psychotic disorders, and intellectual disability. 

Ryan primarily uses Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT) in his approach to therapy. 

Before working at the Scanlan Center, Ryan was a therapist at Family Systems Therapy & Counseling Services, a Student and Family advocate for the Iowa City Community School District, and a therapist for University of Iowa Health Care.
