The Scanlan Center for School Mental Health conducted Phase I of its Iowa Higher Education Study with seven of the Iowa Community Colleges, exploring three salient issues:

1. What are staff/faculty self-perceptions of their mental health and well-being?

2. What are staff/faculty self-perceptions of competence and confidence intervening with student mental health and well-being?

3. What are staff/faculty perceptions of overall institutional support for campus mental health and well-being?

In this webinar, dive into study findings to discover:

  • What % of staff and faculty would welcome mandated training on working with students in distress and how they would best want the training conducted.
  • The % staff and faculty are managing symptoms of anxiety and depression.
  • Staff and faculty perceptions of college support for mental health and well-being.
  • The differences in perceptions of campus mental health and well-being based on staff and faculty race, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
  • Recommendations for how campuses in Iowa can improve on campus mental health and well-being for staff and faculty.
  • How your campus can easily an readily participate in the “Survey.”

This webinar is more than a learning opportunity, it is a chance to contribute your voice to a larger conversation about mental health in higher education. We encourage you to participate and help shape strategies that make a difference in our campus communities.
