A Scanlan Center for School Mental Health workshop for college/university faculty and staff

The “campus mental health crisis” narrative pervades our work as ever increasing levels of anxiety, depression, and burnout abound! We are consistently told that we are the most mentally ill generation of people ever to grace a college or university campus. Is this accurate? On the face of it, the data leans this way.

When we look deeper, we find that the data is much more complex than this. This workshop assists with deconstructing the “campus on fire” narrative to move toward a more complex and accurate understandings of campus mental health and well-being. How we frame the current emotional temperature on campus impacts how our students and colleagues frame this for themselves. Desire a balanced perspective on mental health and well-being that acknowledges both challenges and successes?

Let us share the more accurate narrative of how we all are really doing on campus to best assist your team in moving from only a frame of crisis psychology only to an overall frame of positive psychology.
