Mental Health Within the Family System is a professional development webinar designed to enhance K-12 educators’, school mental health providers’, and community professionals’ understanding of how a child’s mental health condition impacts the entire family.

Drawing on current data, cultural considerations, and real-world system navigation challenges, this session provides participants with a holistic view of the family system as both a source of strength and an area of significant stress when youth experience mental health concerns.

Learning Goals

  1. Learners will describe the emotional, relational, and practical challenges families face when caring for a child with a mental health condition.

  2. Learners will understand how fragmentation across healthcare, education, and social systems creates challenges for families.

  3. Learners will be able to explain how stigma, lack of information, and differing beliefs impact communication and relationships within families.

  4. Learners will become knowledgeable about NAMI programs and other available family support resources.
