Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)

In-Person | 2 days

ASIST is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first-aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. As the world’s leading suicide intervention workshop, LivingWorks’ ASIST program is supported by numerous evaluations including independent and peer-reviewed studies.

safeTALK Suicide Prevention Training

In-Person | 4 hours

safeTALK prepares people to be more alert to suicide and to help persons with thoughts of suicide make safe connections. The intervention goal is that persons with thoughts of suicide connect with someone who will help them keep safe from suicide and access further support. Participants will be able to facilitate safe dialogue and connect someone to resources that help them keep safe from suicide.

Managing Students in Distress Master Class

In-Person | 8 hours

You are at your desk, thinking about an interaction with a student that leaves you troubled. Many things are running through your mind. Is this a big deal? Should I call someone? Should I even get involved? This workshop is designed to help 9-12th-grade school staff respond to students in distress. Participants will learn language and practical skills to help navigate challenging interactions.

Understanding Adolescent Self-Harm and School-Based Interventions Training

Virtual or In-Person | 75 minutes

Explore the complex psychological dynamics behind non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI). This training provides in-depth insights into the underlying motivations and functions of self-harm, equipping participants with evidence-based Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to effectively support students experiencing these challenges.

Supporting Students Through Grief & Loss Workshop

Virtual | 60 minutes

Participants will be provided psychoeducation on grief, including different types of grief, common symptoms of grief, and how grief can manifest differently across people. Strategies that K-12 educators and school staff can use to support students who are experiencing grief and loss will be reviewed. This session can be tailored to school mental health professionals, educators, or parents.

Supporting Student Eating Disorders - Where Do I Even Start? Workshop

Virtual or In-Person | 1 - 75-minute session or 3 - 75-minute sessions

Eating disorders in students have more than doubled over the last several years and school mental health providers may be the first to notice. Build awareness of the signs and symptoms of eating disorders and how to connect students and families with resources and support.

Trauma Informed Classroom Practices: Disruptive Behaviors Workshop

Virtual | 2 - 60-minute sessions

This workshop begins with a framework of common trauma experiences, how that might result in student classroom behaviors, and level 1 interventions that provide support. Participants will also explore common mental health diagnoses that can lead to challenging behaviors and learn preventative interventions.

Students presenting with both high cognitive/academic ability and a disability (e.g., Autism, ADHD, Learning Disorder) are referred to as “twice exceptional.” This webinar will provide an overview of twice-exceptionality, identify key challenges for this population, and offer evidence-based recommendations for supporting their social-emotional well-being.
